Comments about the Alderney Library made by Mr. Jon Kay Mouat. (Immediate Past President of the States of Alderney)

I have known the Alderney Library since it started some fifty years ago. From the very beginning it has been well used by the full range of local inhabitants. Over the years it has moved three times; always growing larger and more comprehensive in scope. It has enabled residents to give something back to the community while providing a class-free social setting where its committee and members can exchange opinion and ideas. It now has a good reference library as well as a broad selection of European literature.

The library and its committee have contributed greatly to the general cultural well-being of the Island without seeking recognition or recompense.
